Although the Benrinnes Distillery is operating at maximum capacity and distills around 3.5 million alcohol per year, the last more widely available official edition was a 15 year old in the Flora & Fauna series.
Almost all of the production goes into blends from the Diageo portfolio, mainly J&B, Johnnie Walker and Crawford's. The Benrinnes 14 years old presented here is a proposal of Hunter Laing & Co. in the renowned "Old Malt Cask" series. The whisky was distilled in March 2005, aged in a refill bourbon cask no. HL 16841 and bottled in June 2019 at 50% abv and without chill filtration. This edition consisted of just 216 bottles.
Aroma : vanilla pudding, milk fudge, lemon meringues, sponge cake, apples, pears, gooseberries, walnuts, notes of allspice and oak.
Taste : vanilla cream, toffee, butter cookies, pears, nectarines, greengages, lemon jam, roasted nuts, traces of cinnamon and licorice.
Finish: quite long, with notes of vanilla, toffee, sugared nuts, summer fruits and oak.
