- The whisky presented here was distilled in October 2005 and aged in refill hogshead # DL 16554 for over 13 years then bottled at 50% abv and without chill-filtration as ‘Advanced Sample for the Old Malt Cask’ range in May 2019.
Product description
Bunnahabhain Distillery, based on the Isle of Islay, was founded in 1881. The current distillery is owned by Burn Stewart Distillers, which in turn has been part of the South African Distell group since 2013, and has two pairs of stills, producing 2.7 million litres of distillate per year, of which around 40% is smoky and peaty. The Bunnahabhain presented here is a candidate for Hunter Laing & Co.'s "Old Malt Cask" series. Distilled in October 2005, the whisky was aged in a refilled hogshead cask no. HL 16554 for over 13 years.
Nose: delicate, milk fudge, vanilla, croutons, apples, pears, grapes, sea breeze and seaweed and a delicate note of smoke in the background.
Palate : apples, grapefruits, salted peanuts, vanilla, lemon peel, white pepper, a pinch of ginger, a breath of sea breeze and a light bitterness of oak.
Finish : medium long, slightly salty, with notes of vanilla, milk chocolate, white pepper, lemongrass, lemon peel and oak.
