Product description
Hankey Bannister & Co. was founded in 1757 by Beaumont Hankey and Hugh Bannister.
We don’t know much about the two gentlemen, other than that they were hugely successful wine importers, and their clientele included London’s most distinguished families. In 1860, laws came into force legalizing the blending of malt and grain whiskies, and the company soon joined the blenders. A whisky bearing their name was launched in 1882, but its formula has not survived. Since 1988, the Hankey Bannister brand has been owned by Inver House Distillers. Here we present a 4.5-litre bottle of Hankey Bannister Original placed on a so-called cradle.
Nose : cereal, breakfast cereal, brown sugar, toffee, grapefruit, pepper, some ginger and fresh oak.
Taste : quite sweet, caramel, toffee, vanilla, buttered toast, pepper, a bit of dried herbs and a slight bitterness of oak.
Finish: not too long, with notes of cereal, caramel, cinnamon, pepper and oak.
