Product description
Deanston is a medium-sized distillery capable of producing 3 million litres of spirit per year.
It began operating in 1966 after converting the buildings of a former cotton mill. The company claims that the meter-thick walls of the maturing warehouse create excellent conditions for maturing whisky regardless of the season. Deanston is the core of the Scottish Leader blend (annual sales of over 6 million bottles), and the single malt editions are receiving increasingly higher ratings. The Deanston 2002 presented here is one of the company's most interesting offerings; the whisky spent 14 years in re-charred bourbon barrels, after which in May 2016 it was poured into organic Oloroso sherry barrels from Bodegas Robles, the only producer of fully organic sherry. This cask strength edition (50.6% abv) was included in the distillery's offer in 2019.
