Springbank 15-year-old (Bottled 1970s/80s) / 46% / 0.75l
- Springbank is arguably the most unique Scottish distillery, the only one with 100% of the process (from malting to bottling) being carried out on site, what makes it the most hand-made Scottish single malt.
Product description
Springbank is an unusual distillery by today's standards, the only one in Scotland where the entire production process, from malting to bottling, takes place under one roof.
Despite the ever-increasing demand for whisky, Springbank uses less than 30% of its already modest potential, producing around 275,000 litres of distillate per year (2019), which is both surprising and disappointing to Campbeltown single malt lovers. The 15-year-old edition presented here dates back to the turn of the 1970s and 1980s and its collector value is constantly growing.
Nose : rich, fruity, bananas, pineapples, coconuts, passion fruit, honey, vanilla, Christmas gingerbread, traces of pipe tobacco and delicate mineral notes.
Palate : rich and complex, slightly oily, tropical fruit salad, baked apples, candied orange peel, vanilla, honey, a bit of licorice, traces of leather and peat.
Finish: long and rich, oranges, bananas, notes of licorice and white pepper, and in the background delicate peat tones.
