Product description
New York Distilling Company opened for business on December 5, 2011, the anniversary of the repeal of national Prohibition.
Its founders are Tom Potter (co-owner of Brooklyn Brewery) and Allen Katz (co-director of Southern Wine & Spirits of New York), and its headquarters are in Williamsburg (a district of Brooklyn). The whiskey presented here is a memory of New York before prohibition, when ragtime and rye whiskey reigned supreme in local clubs and brothels. Ragtime Rye is distilled from a mash of 72% rye (grown in New York State), 16% corn and 12% malted barley and aged for at least three years in fresh American oak barrels. It is an excellent component of cocktails composed on the basis of rye whiskey.
