Product description
Old Ballantruan "the Peated Malt" is a smoky and peated version of the Tomintoul single malt, which for years has been advertised with the marketing slogan "the Gentle Dram".
The distillery began operating in 1965 and changed owners six times by the end of the century. Since 2000, it has belonged to the Angus Dundee Distillers company and, equipped with two pairs of stills, produces 3.3 million liters of distillate per year. Old Ballantruan is distilled from malt with a phenol concentration of 30 ppm. It debuted in 2006, and two years later won a silver medal in the International Wine & Spirits Competition. In its latest incarnation, the basic version of Old Ballantruan is called Smokey Original.
