Harahorn gin is produced by Det Norske Brenneri, the company founded in 2005 when the Norwegian monopoly of alcohol beverages production ended.
(The company original name was Puntervold/Agder Brenneri; the current name has been used since 2011). The Harahorn brand was launched in 2015 and earned excellent reviews, it scored gold medal at the 2016 San Francisco World Spirit Competition. Its formula is focused on botanicals from different parts of Norway: juniper berries come from Røros, blueberries from Nordmarka, rhubarb and bladderwrack (common seaweed) from Grimstad, angelica from Oppdal and wild marjoram from Sunndal. In case of Harahorn Pink raspberries are added to the formula. The gin is produced in a craft way small batches of roughly 400 liters. It is named after a mountain in the Norwegian area Hemsedal and originates from a fable animal, a hare with moose horns, shown on the bottle.
Harahorn Pink gin has subtle aromas of raspberries and blueberries, rhubarb, juniper berries and whiffs of sea breeze. On the palate delicate berry sweetness, juniper, seaweed and marjoram. It makes perfect Pink Gin & Tonic.
