The Macallan Concept is a limited edition series, which celebrates the world’s visionaries by daring to disrupt the whisky making process.
The first in series, The Macallan Concept Number 1 was inspired by surreal art and incorporates innovative production techniques to create new singe malt. Concept Number 2 (launched in the fall of 2019) brings together two passions of The Macallan whisky maker Steven Bremner – whisky and music. Benner strongly believes that “in music you have to lay down the base track, just like you create the base flavor in whisky, and then you build layers around them”. The Macallan Concept Number 2 was matured in a mix of sherry-seasoned American oak casks, Miguel Martin sherry casks and ex-bourbon barrels and bottled at 40% abv. (Producer’s tasting note.)
Nose: rich toffee apple, with vanilla, warming oak spice and blackberry; hints of nutmeg, rose water and pistachio.
Palate: sweet toffee and dried apple with almond, cinnamon and gentle rounded wood spice.
Finish: medium sweet, smooth with hints of spice and toffee to finish.
