Brandy Carlos I is named after Charles V (1500-1558), King of Spain and Holy Roman Emperor.
In 1772, James Duff and Juan Haurie founded the company, soon joined by Thomas Osborne Mann as a partner; in 1857, his descendants became sole owners of the company. Today, 250 years later, Osborne is a producer and distributor of wines, brandies and other spirits, as well as high-end food products. In 2020, Osborne Group was named Brandy Producer of the Year. This Carlos I Solera Gran Reserva, distilled from Airén and Palomino grapes, was aged in old Pedro Ximénez sherry casks using the solera system.
Nose : raisins and sultanas, dried dates, caramel, toffee, walnuts, almond butter, mocha, notes of licorice and toasted oak.
Palate : rich, vanilla, caramel, milkshake, chocolate-covered raisins, dried figs and dates and toasted oak.
Finish: medium long, with notes of sweet dried fruit, milk chocolate, vanilla, caramel, licorice and oak.
