Glen Gordon 1962 Scotch Whiskey / 40% / 0.75l
- Gordon & MacPhail was established in Elgin by James Gordon and John Alexander MacPhail in 1895.
Product description
Gordon & MacPhail was founded in 1895 by James Gordon and John Alexander MacPhail.
John Urquhart soon began working there and in 1915 became a partner in the company. After the deaths of both founders, John took over the company and to this day all key positions are held by members of the Urquhart family. Gordon & MacPhail is probably the most recognizable independent whisky company. It has thousands of barrels of whisky in its warehouses, is the owner of the Benromach Distillery and its portfolio includes several so-called whisky "brands".
One of them is the Glen Gordon presented here, a whisky that is officially known to come from one of the Highlands distilleries (which in this case does not exclude Speyside), was aged in G&M warehouses in Elgin, and its name refers to the Gordon clan. We have heard, however, that Macallan was released under the Glen Gordon brand, but we do not know of any reliable source confirming this thesis. We do know, however, that behind Glen Gordon 1974, which was part of the Antica Casa Marchesi Spinola, Collection Nº1 edition, put together by the Sestante company in 1990, was Macallan.
