Nikka Yoichi 50th Anniversary Limited Edition 2019 / 48%/ 0.7l

In 2019, Nikka Distilling Company celebrated the 50th anniversary of its second distillery, Miyagikyo.

To mark the anniversary, two extraordinary editions of Yoichi and Miyagikyo were released on March 12, composed of distillates that provide an overview of production over half a century – from the 1960s to the first decade of the new millennium. In the case of Miyagikyo, whisky from the distillery's first year of operation was also used. Both whiskies are presented in elegant dark, slightly frosted bottles, the drawings of which emphasize the distillery's location – Yoichi is located near the sea, while Miyagikyo is surrounded by mountains. The edition consisted of 700 bottles.

Aroma: sweet, slightly peaty, vanilla cream, maple syrup, honey, banana cake, green olives, traces of mint and tarragon and mineral and oak notes.

Palate : sweetness with a grain of salt, candied lemon peel, grapefruit, bananas, dark chocolate, pepper, a touch of candied ginger, lemongrass, oak and traces of peat smoke in the background.

Finish: long, with notes of lemon peel, grapefruit, pepper, mint, peat smoke and cigar ash.
