Nikka Miyagikyo 50th Anniversary Limited Edition 2019 / 48% / 0.7l

In 2019, Nikka Distilling Company celebrated the 50th anniversary of its second distillery, Miyagikyo.

To mark the anniversary, two extraordinary editions, Yoichi and Miyagikyo, were released on March 12, composed of distillates that provide an overview of production over half a century – from the 1960s to the first decade of the new millennium. In the case of Miyagikyo, whisky from the first year of the distillery’s operation was used. Both whiskies are presented in elegant dark, slightly frosted bottles, the drawings of which emphasize the distillery’s location – Yoichi is located near the sea, while Miyagikyo is surrounded by mountains. The edition consisted of 700 bottles.

Nose: pronounced sherry notes, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, cocoa powder, honey, sponge cake, roasted chestnuts, leather, oak and a fleeting trace of smoke.

Palate : lots of sherry, bitter orange jam, black cherries, dried plums, dark chocolate, nutmeg, candied ginger, mint leaf, notes of tobacco, leather and oak.

Finish : very long, with notes of dark chocolate, caramel, dried berries, nutmeg, pepper and oak.
