Product description
Mezan Rums is a collection of carefully selected rums manufactured in the Caribbean, in its broadest sense, including also Guyana, and bottled in the most natural form possible.
Mezan rums nearly always come from a single distillery, which makes them a perfect example of the distillery style for a given location. They never contain any additives, are not additionally sweetened, coloured or chill-filtered. They are always matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels.
Mezan Jamaica 2000 is a rum manufactured at the distillery operating at the Long Pond sugar cane plantation in the parish of Trelawny in Jamaica. The rum is manufactured there from sugar cane molasses, Wedderburn style, long fermentation with wild yeast. Double distilled in a pot still with double retort. It matured in an American oak ex-bourbon barrel for 3 years in the tropics and then another 15 years in the moderate European climate. Bottled in the most natural form – with no dilution, colouring, filtering or sugar addition. The contents of cak No. 3 was enough to fill only 246 bottles. According to the bottler, its bouquet offers notes of caramel and muscovado, vanilla, leather and sharpened pencil. On the palate there’s butterscotch, honey, nutmeg and allspice.
