Product description
In 2013, the management of Glenfiddich Distillery decided to withdraw the 12 year old, 15 year old Solera Reserve and 14 year old Rich Oak versions from the Travel Retail chain and replace them with The Cask Collection edition.
It contained three whiskies aged in different types of casks, blended in a solera and bottled without an age statement. According to the distillery, “these are incredibly innovative products that represent a new direction for the single malt category.” Glenfiddich Reserve Cask was aged in Spanish oak sherry casks, selected by the distillery’s malt master, Brian Kinsman.
Nose : sweet and spicy, freshly baked bread, berry jam, raisins, cloves, old leather and notes of oak.
Taste : mild, even silky, dried plums, apples and pears, almonds, mulled wine spices and a bit of oak bitterness.
Finish: quite long, rich sherry notes, dried fruit and subtle oak bitterness.
