Product description
The 16th edition of BenRiacha Single Cask was released at the end of June 2019. The barrels were selected by blender Dr. Rachel Barrie.
This time, Ms. Barrie selected 24 barrels, the first 12 of which were intended for the European market (these were barrels from bourbon, Oloroso sherry, port, rum, Marsala, Rioja wine and so-called virgin oak), while the rest went to the markets of Asia, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. The youngest whisky in the European offer was a 7-year-old aged in virgin barrels, the oldest was 33-year-old Peated. The one presented here, distilled on October 24, 1991, spent 27 years in a barrel from rum no. 1865, the contents of which translated into 194 bottles of cask strength whisky (50.3% abv).
Producer's tasting note:
Nose : Ripe guava and papaya served with golden syrup, followed by rich chocolate cake, almonds and buttermilk.
Taste: A wave of tropical fruits, guava, pineapple and mango are just the beginning, followed by tangerines and juicy peaches, and in the finish intriguing notes of coconut and grapefruit.
