The Bitter Truth was founded in 2006 by two Munich bartenders, Stephan Berg and Alexander Hauck.

The new company's primary business was to be the creation of cocktail spices, the so-called "bitters", which were hard to come by on the German market at the time. Both founders had considerable experience in using and preparing bitters, and also had collections of such spices - both those currently in production and those whose production had long been abandoned. In addition to cocktail spices, The Bitter Truth soon began producing liqueurs, in which these spices were an important ingredient, as well as rums and gins.

Bitter Truth Cocktail Flavoring Olive Bitters is a cocktail spice composed primarily to enhance the flavor of the classic dry martini cocktail. It is great for composing with sherry, other fortified wines or vermouths, as well as white distillates such as vodka, gin or tequila blanco. The flavor of cocktails will be added to the notes of green olives, salt, sea breeze, mustard, sage and thyme.
