Brandy Carlos I is named after Charles V (1500-1558), King of Spain and Holy Roman Emperor.
In 1772, James Duff and Juan Haurie founded the company, soon joined by Thomas Osborne Mann as a partner; in 1857, his descendants became sole owners of the company. Today, 250 years later, Osborne is a producer and distributor of wines, brandies and other spirits, as well as high-end food products. In 2020, Osborne Group was named “Brandy Producer of the Year.” The Carlos I XO Imperial Brandy presented here was matured in very old, up to 100-year-old sherry casks using the solera system. In 2023, this brandy won a gold medal at the International Spirits Competition.
Nose : intense notes of sherry, raisins and sultanas, dried figs, blood oranges, caramel, toffee, walnuts and hazelnuts, raspberry-chocolate mousse and toasted oak.
Palate : complex, vanilla, crème brûlée, toffee, blackberries, raspberries, black cherries, chocolate-covered orange peel, raisins and sherry-soaked oak.
Finish: long, with notes of dark berries, dark chocolate, vanilla, sherry and oak tannins.
