Product description
The Michter's brand is the brainchild of Lou Forman in 1950, then owner of Bomberger Distillery in Shaefferstown, Pennsylvania.
Its name—a combination of Forman’s two sons, Michael and Peter—would soon become the distillery’s name. The distillery went bankrupt in 1989, but the brand returned to the market early in the new century through Chatham Imports, which contracted Kentucky Bourbon Distillers of Kentucky to bottle it. In 2014, Chatham Imports built a new Michter’s Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky, which began production in August 2015. Michter’s Original Sour Mash was a popular choice in the 1970s and ’80s; it was revived by Chatham in 2012. Its unique formula means it falls outside the bourbon and rye categories.
