Product description
Whitley Neill Gin, a creation of Johnny Neill, debuted in 2005 in the Halewood Wine & Spirits portfolio.
Neill is an eighth-generation distiller from the famous Greenall Whiteley distilling family and claims that his English-made gin is inspired by Africa. He credits his African-born wife for the inspiration, who encouraged him to experiment with botanicals from the continent. The gin’s formula includes baobab berries and edible physalis, while the traditional side of the recipe is represented by juniper berries, coriander, orris root, angelica root, cassia bark, lemon peel and orange peel. It is distilled at Langley Distillery in a copper still that is over a century old. In recent years, Whitley Neill has expanded its range of gins with flavours, now boasting around 10. This Blackberry Gin debuted in early 2019, with local blackberries key to its formula. To obtain the optimal intensity of a specific botanical ingredient, the recipes of flavored gins are subject to slight modifications (they do not contain African ingredients). In this case, licorice was also used.
Blackberry Gin is another interesting proposal from Whiteley Neill. This time, the taste of juicy blackberries intertwines with notes of juniper, pine needles and sweet citrus "spiced" with a pinch of pepper and cinnamon. We recommend serving it with tonic, fresh blackberries and a slice of lemon.
