Product description
Port Askaig is not a distillery but a whisky brand from the portfolio of Specialty Drinks Ltd., founded by Sukhinder Singh, owner of The Whisky Exchange.
It bears the name of the ferry port on the Isle of Islay, located near the Caol Ila Distillery, and debuted in 2009. We do not know which distillery on the island is behind the Port Askaig brand, many whisky connoisseurs believe it is Caol Ila (we recently heard that this brand is associated with more than one distillery). Single malt Port Askaig is always bottled without chill filtration and with a natural color. The 45-year-old version presented here, the oldest version of Port Askaig, is a whisky distilled in 1968 and aged in five sherry butt casks. A year before bottling, the whisky was transferred to three casks to achieve the full marriage of aromas and flavors.
