Product description
Sestante Import was founded in the late 1970s by Ernesto Mainardi. Initially, it imported whiskey, and in 1985, it launched single cask editions under the Sestante name.
In 2000, Mainardi proposed another series of whiskies, Silver Seal, considered a continuation of Sestante. In 2010, the rights to the Sestante and Silver Seal lines were purchased by Massimo Righi, owner of Whisky Antique, who continues Mainardi's work. The new Silver Seal and The Sestante Collecton editions have been receiving excellent reviews, but the rare single cask whiskies released under Ernesto Mainardi's tenure remain. Such is the Miltonduff presented here, a whisky distilled in 1966 and bottled after 22 years of maturation in a sherry cask.
Nose: strong notes of sherry, raisins, plums, quince jam, cocoa powder, potpourri, a handful of dry herbs, a drop of soy sauce, notes of pepper and oak.
Palate: complex, a blend of herbal spices, peaches, plums, oranges, raisins, honey, mint chocolate, black pepper, a touch of cinnamon and tobacco and a well-integrated oak bitterness.
Finish: medium long, with notes of dried herbs, sweet dried fruit, allspice, pepper and sherry-soaked oak.
