Product description
Tamdhu Distillery, based in Knockando, Speyside, has been owned by privately held Ian Macleod Distillers since 2011.
It is equipped with three pairs of stills and currently produces around 3 million liters of distillate per year using 75% of its capacity. The plant began operating in 1897 as an investment by leading blended whisky producers and supplied distillate for Johnie Walker, Dewar's and VAT 69 blends. Marketing the Tamdhu single malt was not a priority for the previous owners, only the current one is quite aggressively promoting editions aged in sherry casks. The Tamdhu presented here was aged in sherry casks from American and European oak for at least 15 years. It hit the market in February 2019 in an edition of 24 thousand bottles.
