Fred Laing’s Old Particular series debuted in September 2013, shortly after the division of the assets of Douglas Laing & Co. between the two Laing brothers.
It is the equivalent of the Old Malt Cask series, which is owned by the newly formed Hunter Laing & Co. and headed by Stewart. Old Particular comprises single malt and single grain whiskies bottled in single cask. The Glenturret 12 year old on display here was distilled in April 2006 and aged in a refill sherry hogshead cask (DL 12759). Bottled in September 2018 at cask strength (48.4% abv) and without chill filtration, in a limited edition of 389 bottles.
Nose : raisins, blackberries, black cherries, blackcurrants, golden syrup, hazelnuts, a hint of cinnamon, traces of leather and oak.
Taste : rich, fruity with a slight spiciness, blackcurrant jam, oranges, raisins, dark chocolate, cinnamon, cloves, notes of licorice and oak.
Finish : long, with notes of brown sugar, mixed berry jam, candied orange peel, raisins, cinnamon and oak.
