Product description
In 2017, Glen Moray Distillery celebrated its 120th anniversary. To mark the occasion, Graham Coull, the distiller there, created a unique anniversary edition of 1,000 bottles.
Blended from whiskies distilled from the 1970s to the early 2000s and aged in various types of casks. To quote the master, “The 1970s Glen Moray aged in ex-bourbon barrels brought complexity and oak notes; the 1980s whisky finished in ex-port barrels is sweet with a subtle spiciness. The 1990s and early 2000s Madeira barrels added notes of vanilla, coffee and dark chocolate, and finally the 1990s sherry casks proved to be the Mastery’s “backbone” and a bridge connecting the elements of the aromatic and flavor palette.” (The tasting note comes from the producer.)
Aroma: an explosion of aromas, rhubarb cake with crumble, chocolate-coated raisins and smoky, roasted almonds.
Palate: An array of roasted coffee beans, melted dark chocolate and sweet raisins soaked in fortified wine; rich, complex and perfectly balanced.
Finish : long and unforgettable with a predominance of oak and a pleasant spiciness. A drink to sip slowly, encouraging reflection.
