Product description
Mòine, a peated expression of Bunnahabhain whisky, was introduced in 2004. It was a limited edition of 7 years old single malt released for the Fèis Ìle (The Festival of Music and Malt).
Bunnahabhain Distillery produces around 200,000 liters of peated whisky each year but almost the entire output goes into Black Bottle blend, which is owned by the same company, Burn Stewart Distillers (now part of South African Distell Group). Supply of Bunnahabhain Mòine bottlings is strictly limited, however two finishes (Port and Oloroso sherry) were launched in 2017 as well as standard expression aged in American oak barrels. The whisky is bottled at 46.3% abv, of natural color and without chill-filtration.
Nose: peat smoke and sea breeze, iodine, green apples, lemon peel, dash of pepper and licorice and trace of burnt rubber.
Palate: similar to the nose, peat smoke, nougat, grapefruits, lemon peel, white pepper, sea salt and a touch of licorice.
Finish: medium long, smoky and medicinal, pepper, licorice and pretty shy fruity notes.
