Product description
Single malt Gouden Carolus is the brainchild of Charles Leclef, owner of the Het Anker brewery in Belgium. Leclef began distilling on the brewery premises in 2003 using the mash used to make Gouden Carolus Tripel Beer (without the hops).
Gouden Carolus debuted in 2008, and two years later Leclef built a new distillery on the Molenberg family estate in Blaasfeld. The whisky is distilled in traditional copper stills and aged for around 30 months in fresh bourbon barrels, after which it is aged for at least 6 months in so-called Anker casks (regenerated and re-fired barrels). In 2017, Gouden Carolus Anker Cask Finish won a silver medal at the International Wine & Spirits Competition.
