Product description
In May 1785, a hot-air balloon fell on the town of Tullamore and started a fire that destroyed over 100 houses.
From today's perspective, we can say that this was the first plane crash with such huge consequences. Shortly after the reconstruction, the town added a phoenix to its coat of arms, a mythical bird that rises from its own ashes. Tullamore Dew Phoenix evokes the memory of this accident and pays tribute to the victims of the disaster. It is a so-called "triple blend", composed of Irish grain, single malt and single pot still distillates finished in Oloroso sherry casks. In the year of its debut (2013), this whiskey won a gold medal at the Irish Whiskey Masters Competition. Since 2016, Phoenix has been available on the market in a small batch version (originally single batch) with an alcohol content of 46.2%.
