Ezra Brooks Bourbon debuted in the 1950s as part of the Hoffman Distilling Company offering.
In 1999, the brand was acquired by David Sherman Corporation (known as Luxco Inc. since 2006) and recently expanded to include rye whiskey. The Ezra Brooks Straight Rye presented here is a 2-year-old whiskey distilled at MGP Distillery in Indiana from a mash of 95% rye and 5% malted barley and bottled at 45% ABV without prior chill filtration. In 2017, this whiskey was awarded a gold medal at the World Spirit Competition in San Francisco.
Aroma : milk fudge, lemon peel, vanilla, caramel, white pepper, notes of dill and oak.
Palate : lemon and orange peel, rye bread toast, brown sugar, vanilla, pepper, a bit of dry herbs and oak.
Finish : medium long, with notes of citrus, wholemeal, vanilla, milk fudge, pepper and oak.
