Product description
Springbank Local Barley is a now-iconic whisky distilled in 1965/1966 and bottled in 1990–2001 (returned to the range in 2016 with the 1999 Vintage edition).
It was distilled from barley from farms located in the immediate vicinity of the distillery. Already in the 90s, when interest in single malts was a fraction of today's, Local Barley editions were warmly received by connoisseurs and were synonymous with the highest quality. Here we present Springbank distilled in February 1966, aged in bourbon barrel no. 1966/484 for 31 years and bottled in August 1997 in the cask strength version (53% abv).
Unfortunately, we didn’t get a chance to taste the whisky from this cask, but we still remember tasting the Springbank Local Barley, also distilled in February 1966 and from two sister bourbon casks (no. 1966/478 and 1966/497). In both cases, it was an incredibly rich and complex whisky, one that will stay in your memory for years to come.
