Product description
Old Ballantruan debuted in 2006 as part of the Tomintoul Distillery range. The whisky is named after the settlement that lies close to the distillery.
Six years earlier, the distillery was acquired by Angus Dundee Distillers, a blended whisky producer, and since then it has distilled several weeks a year from malt with phenols levels above 30ppm. (Standard Tomintoul is still advertised as a gentle dram.) Old Ballantruan 15 years old joined the range in 2018 and is the oldest version of the whisky. The original, age-unstated edition won a silver medal at the 2008 International Wine & Spirits Competition.
