Product description
Copperhead Gin is the creation of Yvan Vindevogel, a Belgian pharmacist, inspired by the medical properties of gin.
Vindevogel has a lot of experience in mixology due to his profession, but he decided not to follow the latest "gin" trends and focused on five basic botanicals: juniper berries, coriander seeds, cardamom, angelica root and orange peel. His gin is triple distilled at the Filliers Distillery in East Flanders, known for its whisky production. The name of the gin refers to the copperhead viper, a symbol of apothecary, which originates from alchemy or from a certain Mr. Copernicus, an alchemist searching for the elixir of life. The label bears the Latin phrase "Consolans potio fortuna inventa" which roughly translates to "life-giving drink discovered by chance". Vindevogel recommends serving his gin and tonic with one of his own bitters:
Aperitivum – a combination of grapefruit and angelica root, it stimulates the appetite and adds a bit of bitterness to gin and tonic;
Digestivum – made from ginger extract, it aids digestion by adding a bit of sweetness to gin and tonic;
Energeticum – made from xanthine-rich guarana seeds, it increases energy levels and enriches gin and tonic with citrus notes.
