Product description
In September 2012, Jack Daniel's Distillery launched the Master Distillers Series, honoring the seven master distillers who have held this position from the distillery's founding to the present day.
The edition presented here is dedicated to Jimmy Bedford, the sixth on the list, who held this position from 1988 to 2008. James Howard Bedford took over the duties of Master Distiller from Frank Bobo in 1988. In addition to overseeing the entire production process, Bedford traveled the world promoting Jack Daniel's whiskey and organizing tasting events. During his tenure, two premium editions debuted - Jack Daniel's Single Barrel and Gentleman Jack. In 2007, "Whisky Magazine" honored him with the honorable distinction of The Icons of Whisky. Jimmy Bedford used to say: "Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 is a sacred object in Lynchburg and it is my duty to ensure that it remains so; any change means a problem." However, this problem came from a different direction. In 2008, the great career of the sixth Master Distiller was interrupted by Claudia Falkenberg, the regional brand manager, who accused him of sexual harassment. The case ended in a settlement, but it meant Bedford parted ways with Jack Daniel's. James Howard Bedford died the following year at the age of 69.
