Product description
Fèis Ìle (Islay Festival of Whisky and Music) is an annual event organised by the island's residents since 1986.
It promotes Islay, its culture and historical heritage. Each of the local distilleries takes an active part in the event, usually also honouring it with a limited edition of whisky. In addition to the distilleries, independent whisky publishers also take an active part. The renowned Douglas Laing & Co. offers a special version of the popular blended malt, Big Peat, made exclusively from malts produced on the island, the most important of which are Caol Ila, Bowmore, Ardbeg and Port Ellen. The 2018 edition presented here was bottled, as usual, with a natural colour and without chill filtration and numbered 3,000 bottles.
Aroma: smoky and marine, seaweed, shells, grilled pork neck, vanilla, a drop of golden syrup, salted butter, white pepper and a pinch of cinnamon.
Palate: peat smoke, cigar soot and ash, sea breeze, smoked bacon, seaweed salad, white pepper, lemon peel, a hint of leather and a touch of vanilla.
Finish : long, salty and smoky, with notes of smoked meat, lemon peel, cocoa powder and charred oak.
