Product description
Drumshanbo Gunpowder Gin is a product of Shed Distillery, founded in 2014 by Patrick J. Rigney, a man with over 30 years of experience in the alcoholic beverages sector.
The company is based in the village of Drumshanbo in County Leitrim, Ireland, and produces whiskey and gin. The gin formula lists 12 botanicals. The key ingredient is Gunpowder tea, a green tea whose leaves are slowly dried and rolled into small balls resembling gunpowder. Others on the list include juniper berries, angelica root, cumin, cardamom, coriander, grapefruit, lemons, Markut limes, spirea, orris root and anise. The juniper berries, roots and seeds are traditionally distilled in a copper still, while the citrus and Gunpowder tea are so-called "vapor infusion" (placed in a container through which alcohol vapours pass).
Drumshanbo Gunpowder is a gin with a strong aroma of citrus, juniper, green tea, with a subtle herbal note. In the palette, grapefruit comes to the fore, followed by juniper, green tea and a touch of anise. This gin goes great with Fever Tree Indian Tonic served with a slice of pink grapefruit.
