According to U.S. regulations, blended whiskey must contain at least 20 percent bourbon, with the remaining 80 percent neutral grain alcohol. The bourbon used in the Triple Crown blend was distilled from a mash of 60 percent corn, 34 percent Canadian rye, and 4 percent malted barley, and aged in new, charred barrels. McCormick emphasizes the water used in the blending process, which is iron-free from the Great Miami Aquifer, and a yeast strain it has been using and perfecting for 70 years.
