Product description
Von Hallers Gin is the creation of Prince Carl Von Hardenberg Jr. and Patrick J. Rigley, owner of Shed Distillery, producer of, among others, the multi-award-winning Irish Drumshanbo Gunpowder gin.
The Von Hallers brand is named after one of the leading figures of the German Enlightenment, Albrecht von Haller, a psychologist, anatomist, botanist and poet, who founded the Göttingen Botanical Gardens in 1736. Von Hardenberg travelled extensively in the West of Ireland and spent considerable time at the Shed Distillery, where he gained knowledge of local botanicals and their distillation in a traditional copper still. Upon his return to Germany, he began exploring the plants in the Göttingen Gardens and selected, among others, lemon verbena, local garlic and garden fuchsia. Together with Irish angelica root, these form the key components of the Von Hallers gin formula. The gin is distilled at the Shed Distillery and is intended for the German and Irish markets.
Von Hallers is a perfectly balanced gin, in which no ingredient dominates over the others. In the aromatic bouquet, classic notes of juniper and citrus delicately interwoven with garlic and aromatic fuchsia. The taste is consistent with the aroma, with additional noticeable notes of lemongrass, licorice and a mixture of garden herbs. We recommend serving with ice cubes or with Fever Tree Indian
