In the late 2017 Glengoyne Distillery unveiled a new range, Spirit of Oak Collection, exclusively for Travel Retail.
The new range emphases sherry wood and consists of four expressions, each matured in different types of such wood. It takes up to six years before sherry casks are shipped to the distillery – first the oak is harvested from the forests of northern Spain or southern United States and shipped to cooperage in Spain. After arrival the oak cut in staves is air-dried, crafted into casks and filled with sherry for up to three years, and then sent to Glengoyne Distillery. Glengoyne Curatillo (Curatillo is the wine-making area in southern Spain) is aged in first fill American oak ex-Oloroso sherry casks and bottled at 40% abv.
