The story of Barceló rums dates back to 1929, when 25-year-old Julián Barceló leaves his native Spain and travels to Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic where he sets up his own company, Barceló & Co.
It is his ambition to create the best rum in the world. Success was not instantaneous, but after years of experimentations, internationally acclaimed Barceló Blanco and Dorado are launched. Today Barceló rums are available in over 50 states all over the world, and the Dominican manufacturer is the fourth largest exporter of rum globally.
Barceló Imperial Onyx is a blend of Dominican rums, matured in heavily charred American oak casks for at least 10 years, and then passed through special onyx filters. Hence the name. Its bouquet offers notes of coffee, cherries, dried fruits, charred oak and vanilla.
