Armorik single malt is produced at Distillerie Warenghem located in Lannion, Bretagne.
The distillery was founded in the beginning of the 20th Century by Leon Warenghem and started experimenting with whisky production in the late 1980s; the Armorik brand was introduced in 1998. Currently the distillery is equipped with a single pair of stills and produces 120 000 liters of spirit annually using exclusively locally grown barley. Armorik Dervenn (‘dervenn’ translates from Breton to ‘oak’) debuted in 2017; the whisky was aged in casks made from oak sourced from Brittany and bottled without chill-filtration at 46% abv.
Nose: malty and nutty, slightly earthy, vanilla, milk chocolate, grapefruits, green apples, hints of cinnamon and oak.
Palate: sweet and spicy, vanilla, brown sugar, baked apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, dash of pepper and subtle oaky dryness.
Finish: medium long, with notes of vanilla, white pepper, candied ginger and oak.
