- Douglas Laing & Co., one of the most reputable independent bottling companies, used to be run by two Laing brothers, Stuart and Fred. In 2013, after almost 40 years of working together, the brothers parted their ways and split the old company portfolio.

Renowned distribution company Douglas Laing & Co. was owned by brothers Stuart and Fred Laing until 2013, but after 40 years of success the brothers decided to split the company assets and operate separately.
The prestigious Old & Rare range has been added to the portfolio of the newly formed Hunter Laing & Co., of which Stuart is chairman. The Bowmore presented here was distilled in December 1987 and spent a quarter of a century in a refill hogshead. Bottled in August 2013, without chill filtration, at 48.5% natural abv, in an edition of 226 bottles.
Nose: sweet and slightly smoky, strawberry jam, oranges, cantaloupe, sea breeze, a trace of lavender and some oak in the background.
Palate: sweet with a distinct smoky note in the background, vanilla, mixed berry jam, violet liqueur, licorice and a delicate oak bitterness.
Finish : medium long, with notes of berries, vanilla, licorice, pepper and brine.
