Product description

Renowned distribution company Douglas Laing & Co. was owned by brothers Stuart and Fred Laing until 2013, but after 40 years of success the brothers decided to split the company assets and operate separately.

The prestigious Old & Rare range has been added to the portfolio of the newly formed Hunter Laing & Co., of which Stuart is chairman. The Bowmore presented here was distilled in December 1987 and spent a quarter of a century in a refill hogshead. Bottled in August 2013, without chill filtration, at 48.5% natural abv, in an edition of 226 bottles.

Nose:  sweet and slightly smoky, strawberry jam, oranges, cantaloupe, sea breeze, a trace of lavender and some oak in the background.

Palate:  sweet with a distinct smoky note in the background, vanilla, mixed berry jam, violet liqueur, licorice and a delicate oak bitterness.

Finish : medium long, with notes of berries, vanilla, licorice, pepper and brine.
