Agwa de Bolivia is a herbal liqueur manufactured in Amsterdam.
It is made with the use of as many as 37 botanicals, including green tea, ginseng, mint and guarana, but above all – coca leaves imported from Bolivia (hence Bolivia in the name of the tipple). Coca is planted at an altitude of 2000 metres above sea level in the Bolivian Andes. Prior to transporting the leaves to Europe, the cocaine alkaloids are removed, still the transport to Amsterdam has to be supervised by armed police.
The Agwa de Bolivia XO Edition Carnival Rio expression is a blend of the standard coca leaves liqueur with 8-year-old rum, matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels. The distillery from which is hails has not been disclosed.
Agwa de Bolivia XO is a refreshing drink, perfect when served on ice, but it can also be used as a base for a number of cocktails, including Mojito
