Product description
Glenmorangie Distillery is the undisputed pioneer and leader in whisky finishing.
In 1994, Port Wood Finish became a permanent addition to the range, soon followed by other “finishes” – Sherry, Madeira and Burgundy. However, the historic event had already taken place seven years earlier. In 1987, Glenmorangie 1963 Vintage was launched, the first whisky whose label mentioned an additional short maturation in a different type of wood – “Glenmorangie Vintage was aged in oak barrels for 22 years, then spent another year finishing in Spanish oak Oloroso sherry barrels”. In the new millennium, Glenmorangie 1963 Vintage remains one of the most sought-after editions from this distillery.
Nose: rich, fruity, apricots, plums, oranges, pink grapefruits, raisins, roasted chestnuts, black tea, honey, a handful of fresh herbs and oak notes in the background.
Palate: ripe grapes, apricots and plums, pineapples, candied orange peel, vanilla, milk chocolate, nutmeg, a pinch of cloves and a subtle bitterness of oak.
Finish : long, fruity sweetness balanced by spicy notes and pleasant oak bitterness.
