Product description
Yushan is a blended malt whisky named after Taiwan's highest peak, Yu Shan, or Jade Mountain. It is produced by TTL's (Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation) Nantou Distillery.
The plant has been in existence since 1978, but began producing whisky exactly 30 years later. The Omar Single Malt Sherry Type from there won a silver medal at the International Wine & Spirits Competition in 2016. We don’t know much about Yushan’s formula, except that its core is its own distillate, and that it was matured mainly in bourbon barrels with a small addition of Pedro Ximénez sherry barrels.
Aroma: delicate, malty and fruity, sweet breakfast cereals, apples, grapes, bananas, vanilla, honey and a hint of pineapple.
Taste: mild, vanilla, honey, a hint of marzipan, milk chocolate, bananas, tangerines and pineapples.
Finish: medium long, with notes of vanilla, raisins and tropical fruits.
