Product description
The original Aberlour Distillery was built in 1826 and destroyed by fire in 1879. The very same year James Fleming, a local banker, decided to build a new Aberlour Distillery a couple of kilometers upstream the Spey River.
In 1945 the distillery was taken over by Campbell Distillers Ltd. and Aberlour became a main component of Clan Campbell blends. Pernod Ricard acquired Campbell Distillers in 1974 along with Aberlour Distillery and holds its ownership to this day. Aberlour-Glenlivet 23 years old presented was bottled by Moncreiffe & Co. for the Italian importer Giuseppe Meregalli S.R.L. as part of Moncreiffe Single Malt Collection. The whisky was distilled in 1963, when Aberlour was equipped with a single pair of stills and about a year after floor maltings closed. It was probably aged in American oak barrels.
We do not have too much information about the bottling company; it was founded in 1986 and dissolved in 2010. The label features signature of Sir Iain Moncrieffe, chief of Clan Moncrieffe.
