Ardbeg Distillery is equipped with a single pair of stills and working seven days a week cane produce roughly 1.4 million liters of spirit per annum.
There has been talk about expansion but so far one can only speculate if there will be an addition of couple of washbacks or installation of a new set of stills. The sales of Ardbeg are steadily increasing reaching 1.2 million bottles, with limited editions, especially whisky distilled in the 20th Century, keep scoring new records on auctions and prices will continue to grow since there are no old barrels in the warehouse no more. Here we have a real rarity, Ardbeg distilled on December 26, 1975 and aged in ex-Fino sherry cask no. 4717 for three decades. Bottled at natural strength of 46.3% abv on May 3, 2006 with and outrun of 165 bottles.
