Fèis Ìle (Islay Festival of Whisky and Music) is an annual event organised by the islanders since 1986. It promotes Islay, its culture and historical heritage.
Each of the local distilleries takes an active part in the event, usually honoring it with a limited edition of whisky. In 2006, Ardbeg Distillery offered a unique single cask edition for the occasion. The whisky, distilled on December 26, 1975 from barley malted on site (Ardbeg stopped producing malt two years later), spent over three decades in a Fino sherry cask no. 4717. Bottled on May 3, 2006 without chill filtration, at 46.3% abv in an edition of just 165 bottles.
