Under the ownership of Distell Group all Burn Stewart distilleries – Deanston, Tobermory and Bunnahabhain – greatly upgraded their product range.
Whiskies are now bottled without chill-filtration and with alcohol content elevated to 46.3% abv. Stiùiredair is the most recent addition to the Bunnahabhain range (summer 2017). It is fairly young whisky distilled from un-peated malt, aged in first fill and refill sherry casks and bottled without age statement. Apparently the new expression supposed to ease pressure on the dwindling stocks of the company flagship, Bunnahabhain 12 years old. Stiùiredair is the old Gaelic name for Helmsman.
