Product description
In October 2016, Glen Moray Distillery introduced the Elgin Heritage Collection consisting of three single malts – 12, 15 and 18 years old.
The 12 and 18 year old versions are based on distillates aged in American oak barrels, while the 15 year old is a combination of whiskies aged in bourbon and sherry barrels. Elgin Heritage was the brainchild of Graham Coull, Glen Moray's master distiller, who selected the barrels and collaborated on the presentation. His signature adorns each label and packaging. Glen Moray Distillery is currently owned by the French company La Martiniquaise and, following a modernisation completed in 2016, produces 5.7 million litres of distillate. It is an important component of the Label 5 and Sir Edward's blends.
Nose: buttered toast, vanilla, milk fudge, caramel, Christmas fruit cake, cinnamon, baked apples, a dash of nutmeg and a hint of smoke in the background.
Palate: lots of spices, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, cloves, vanilla, toffee apples, lemon and orange peel and some oak.
Finish: quite long, with notes of vanilla, toffee, spices, licorice and fading peat smoke.
