Product description
Based on the Isle of Mull, the second largest island in the Inner Hebrides, Tobermory is one of Scotland's most beautifully situated distilleries.
Its name comes from the Gaelic Tobar Mhoire, which translates to “Mary’s Well.” Centuries ago, right next to the settlement of Tobermory, today’s capital of the island (population around 900 souls), there was a well dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Since 1993, the distillery has been owned by Burn Stewart Distillers and produces around 750 million liters of alcohol per year, using 75% of its potential. Tobermory Manzanilla Finish is a proposal from 2017, a whisky aged in bourbon barrels and finished in Manzanilla sherry barrels (produced from Palomino grapes and similar in profile to Fino sherry).
Nose: fruity with a clear trace of sea salt, pineapples, plums, lemons, caramel, toffee, notes of tobacco and seaweed and a pinch of white pepper.
Taste: slightly oily, seaweed salad, apples, oranges, dark chocolate with salt grains, a handful of herbs from the garden, traces of pepper and oak.
Finish: quite long, salty, spicy-herbal, with delicate fruity and oak notes.
