Product description
Galliano liqueur debuted in 1896.
It was created by Arturo Vaccari, a brandy producer and distillery owner in Livorno, Tuscany. The original formula, developed with the Maraschi brothers, who specialized in infusion and maceration, listed over 30 botanical ingredients. The brand's patron is Giuseppe Galliano, a hero of the First Italian-Abyssinian War (1894-1896). For 44 days, Galliano, along with a 2,000-strong unit, defended the Enda Yesus monastery against an 80,000-strong Abyssinian army. For his bravery, he was awarded the Silver Medal of Merit and promoted to lieutenant colonel. Even before prohibition, Galliano liqueur gained huge popularity in the United States, and in the 1970s it led sales statistics in its category. In 1989, the rights to the brand were acquired by the French concern Rémy Cointreau, and since 2006 it has been in the portfolio of the Dutch company Lucas Bols.
Galliano Amaretto is a great liqueur with a beautifully balanced palette, in which notes of almonds, marzipan and cherries are complemented by roasted cocoa beans and a hint of vanilla. The drink is bottled at 28% alcohol and presented in the brand's characteristic triangular bottle. The selection of ingredients is supervised by the renowned company Maraschi & Quirici from Turin.
